"Forget countries and boundaries, I'm international." – Eddie Huang

Throughout my childhood, identity has been a perplexing issue of mine.  I truly embrace who I have become and what I aspire to be, but at times I was confused with the silos that society looked to push people in. As a child I played in competitive hockey tournaments, but performed at piano recitals. On Friday’s when all my friends were playing flashlight tag or backyard football, I went to Chinese school. I was even supporting the New Jersey Devils in a town full of Bruins fans. I have never been one to fit into any of the stereotypes that countries or borders try to create based on look, color, or interests and believe that it is time to break down these perceptions when telling stories or identifying one another.

Be who you want to be, Do what you like to do, Disregard the final judgments of others, and the rest will fall in place.
